Here we have a 5″ gauge GWR King Class, 6023 ‘King Edward II’. Originally finished in 1996, and made to a good mode engineering 'functional' standard rather than to be a super detailed model. The model has clearly been a popular runner coming with a full and detailed boiler history for the professionally made silver soldered copper boiler, and although showing obvious signs of use,the loco's bottom end is still in good condition without too much wear and tear in any of the bearings. The BR blue is for us a refreshing change from the great many green King's that have been built over the years. The paintwork is a little tired here n there, but it certainly doesn't detract too much from the overall impressive presence of a King in BR blue!
A full 4 cylinder model of course, and fitted with an injector, twin axle pumps between the frames and a footplate mounted bypass valve and of course the hand pump in the tender. There's also a float with handy visual read out on the rear tender pate so you can see how your tender water level is going! Lubrication is mechanical with a large reservoir under the right hand running board in front of the cylinder.
The boiler, as with the vast majority of our models comes with a fresh 4 year hydraulic test as well as a fresh annual steam test so she is ready to play.
